PERGOLA & PAVILION POST BASES

CHOOSING THE RIGHT POST BASE IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULDN’T TAKE LIGHTLY.

When it comes to attaching your pergola or pavilion to a concrete patio or poured pier, you will have numerous options of posts bases to choose from. Here at Blue Sky Pergolas we offer (2) different kind of posts bases. The first is an OZCO base that is black powder coated and beautiful. The second style of post base is a hidden knife plate. Both have pros and cons but choosing from one or the other you can’t go wrong. If you love the look of black metal hardware, then your only option is the OZCO base. Those wanting a sleek look for their pergola or pavilion posts, going all the way the ground without any metal hardware, a hidden knife plate is the only option. With a hidden knife plate, all of the structural iron is hidden inside the post, and out of view. When it comes to wood, you never ever want to install anything in the ground or surrounded by concrete as this will lead to decay. Both bases we use keep the post 1/2″ – 3/4″ off the concrete and keep them from sitting in water when it rains or snows.
